Greetings everyone and welcome to the first official "Weekender Blog" segment of the 2018 Spring Season!

Yeah, we know snow's been in the forecast and Old Man Winter doesn't want to release his stranglehold on the region just yet. But the calendar says Spring so we're choosing to take the "glass is half full" approach and begin discussing the impending warm weather season here in the coastal region.

And staying in that mindset, we have some great springtime activities coming up over the next few days, and we're excited to tell you about them here in our most popular and widely read weekly blog segment.

We'll be taking you all around the region this week, from Rehoboth Beach, to Lewes, to Milton and even to a fun kid's event in the Sussex County Seat of Georgetown.

It should be another great weekend here in the coastal region, so keep reading for more information on all of this weekend's fun events.

But first, here's the Oldfather Group's Deloris Cauley with a quick video preview of the events happening between March 23-25 at and near the Delaware beaches...

REMINDER: be sure to check out the interactive map at the end of this blog entry to learn more about this weekend's featured events.

Okay, so let's jump right into all of the fun events scheduled for the next few days. Here are our five top choices for the weekend of March 23-25 in the coastal region:

Georgetown Easter Egg Hunt (March 24). Now held at Mulligan's Pointe (the former Sussex Pines Country Club), this popular event sponsored by the Greater Georgetown Chamber of Commerce is returning for its 18th year.

Scheduled for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday, March 24, the event will feature games, face painting, a moon bounce and more than 5,000 candy-filled Easter eggs.

The egg hunt is free, features three different age groups, from 3 to 12, and will begin promptly at noon. There's a $5 charge to participate in the other activities mentioned above.

New this year will be the "Breakfast with the Bunny" buffet event from 9 to 11 a.m., with photo opportunities available with the Easter Bunny. Cost for the buffet is $9.99 for adults, $4.99 for children from 3-10 and free for children 2 and under. Reservations can be made by calling 302-856-2318 or emailing [email protected]

The Chamber will also be holding a coloring contest for children ages 3-10. That information can be downloaded HERE.

Teller Wines Expo (March 24). Held at the new, and may we say impressive, Lewes History Museum on Adams Avenue, this fundraising event for the Lewes Historical Society is scheduled for 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 24.

One hundred wines from around the world will be available for sampling, as well as many delectable creations prepared by chefs from many of coastal Delaware's finest locally owned and operated restaurants.

Several items will be available via live and silent auctions, including gift cards to local restaurants, programs organized by the Lewes Historical Society and gift baskets, as well as higher end items like an antique tractor, a special gourmet meal prepared in your home and even a gift package designed exclusively for the four-legged members of the family.

Wine Expo tickets are $75 and can be purchased either at Teller Wines on Savannah Road in Lewes or HERE.

A portion of all ticket sales, as well as all proceeds from the silent and live auctions, will benefit the Lewes Historical Society.

Dogfish Head Weekend of Compelling Ales & Whatnot (March 24). Leave it to the fine folks at Dogfish Head to hold an early Spring event that's a bit "off centered." Then again, that is part of their slogan after all.

Scheduled for Saturday, March 24, from 3 to 7 p.m., at the Milton brewery, the event features off-centered ales and other items synonymous with Dogfish Head, like brewery and distillery tours and beer-centric inspired food pairings.

Tickets are available in many categories, including "general admission," "designated driver," VIP" and "Super VIP," and range in price from $35 to the top-of-the-line $899 package that includes a two-night stay at the Dogfish Inn in Lewes, as well as tasting sessions, a special brunch and an exclusive breakfast with Dogfish Header founder and CEO Sam Calagione.

Tickets can be purchased HERE, or visit the event page for more information.

There will be 10 films featured at this year's festival between Wednesday, March 21, and Sunday, March 25. Admission is $10 per film screening and tickets can be purchased at the door 30 minutes prior to the start time.

Easter Bunny Tea (March 25). Bring the kids out to see the world-renowned Easter Bunny, this Sunday afternoon at the historic Milton Theatre.

Scheduled for 2 p.m., this interactive tea party includes light refreshments, singing and dancing with the Easter Bunny and friends, story telling and a special meet and greet where you can take photos with your favorite characters.

Tickets for the event are $13. For more information, or to purchase tickets, visit or call 302-684-3038.

Whatever you choose to do this weekend, we hope you have a fun and exciting few days here in the coastal region.
