Greetings and welcome to the latest edition of the "Weekender Blog," brought to you every week by the real estate professionals at the Oldfather Group of Ocean Atlantic Sotheby's International Realty.

We hope everyone had a fantastic Memorial Day Weekend and are ready for another fun, action-packed summer season at the Delaware and Maryland beaches.

As always, we're going to keep you up to date on everything that's happening in the region, especially the annual events and festivals that the coastal area has become known for in recent years.

Ordinarily, we highlight our top five events every week, providing you with as many details as we can. Hopefully, this allows you to make an informed decision on how to best spend your weekends at the beach.

But a quick spoiler for this week's blog entry - there's actually a bonus event beginning on Sunday and running for nearly a week that you're going to want to learn more about below.

There's certainly a lot going on this weekend in the coastal region, with things spread out among many of the area's towns and municipalities.

So, let's dive right in shall we?

We begin with one of our favorites in Cool Spring, at fabulous Warrington Manor. And that is...

2018 Lavender Festival (June 2). This Saturday marks the third year for this festival, held at Warrington Manor near Cool Spring.

The festival is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., and there is no admission charge. Activities for the event include workshops on growing lavender, cooking with lavender and herbs, wreath making and much more.

For more information, visit Lavender Fields online or call 302-684-1514.

Bethany Beach Seaside Craft Show (June 2). For the 14th consecutive year, this popular event in the “quiet resort” of Bethany Beach will be taking over the downtown area.

More than 100 crafters are expected for this year’s show, in specialties that include jewelry, pottery, photography, woodworking and more.

The event is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. this Saturday, June 2, and will be centered on the boardwalk and bandstand areas in downtown Bethany Beach.

Beebe Beach Bash (June 2). Held once again at the Lewes Ferry Terminal, the fourth annual Beebe Beach Bash will definitely have a party feel to it.

Gourmet food stations, casino games, an open bar, dancing and much more will have attendees partying into the night in Lewes. The popular "Fabulous Greaseband" will also be back, cranking out their unique style of music.

Funds raised will go toward purchasing critical equipment needed for the hospital's emergency department.

The "Bash" is scheduled for 6 to 11 p.m. on Saturday, June 2. Click HERE for more information.

Dewey Color Run (June 3). This fifth annual event in Dewey Beach is always a lot of fun and is a Ten Sisters of Dewey Beach Road Race Series event.

Pre-registration for the Color Run is $40 through May 31 and $45 after, including the day of the event.

The race starts at the Rusty Rudder and has many “color stops” along the route. There will be a post race party at Northbeach, featuring live music and food, and beer for those 21 and over.

This event benefits the Rotary Clubs of Area 41.

Broad Creek Bike & Brew (June 2). Just a short drive to the west in nearby Laurel, this annual bicycling event is scheduled for this Saturday, June 2, with proceeds benefitting Nanticoke Health Services.

Participants can choose between 15 mile, 25 mile, 50 mile and “century” routes, and completion of the ride is optional.

Several local microbreweries will be on hand providing refreshments at the finish party, which will be held at Janosik Park on Broad Creek, beginning at 11 a.m.
