Okay, on to the weekend of July 27-29 here in the coastal region. Here's the Oldfather Group's Julie Seymour with a video preview...
It should be another great summer weekend here at the beaches. So, let's tell you all about what's coming up over the next few days.
Here are our top choices for fun and exciting things to do this weekend in the coastal region:
Senior League Softball World Series (July 30 - August 5). Held at the Lower Sussex Little League complex in Roxana, this Little League International event features teams from all throughout the United States, as well as Latin America, Canada, Asia and Europe.
It’s the final destination for teenage girls who play throughout the summer for a chance to participate in the World Series. And several games of the event will once again be televised on the ESPN television network.
This is the 43rd year for this particular event, and the 18th year it's been held in Delaware. The host team for 2018 is a combined squad from the Cape Henlopen and Georgetown Little Leagues.
Delaware District III is also the defending champions of this international event, so come on out and cheer on the home team.

Delaware State Fair (Through July 28). Last week, the State Fair was actually closed down for a day due to inclement weather, but it's back on and going strong for the last few days of its 2018 run in Delaware.
The always popular agricultural exhibits have once again been a big part of the 10 day event, along with carnival rides, shows, lots of "fair food" and interesting activities for young and old alike.
Admission to the state fair is $9 for adults and $4 for children between 6 and 12. Children 5 and under are admitted free.

Carey's Camp (July 25 - August 5). This is the 130th year for this popular church camp near Millsboro, and if you want to experience a true taste of Sussex County, there’s no better place to do so.
A throwback to Methodist revival meetings of yesteryear, dozens of families re-open “tents,” which are actually one-and-a-half story cottages, every year at Carey’s Camp and live together for two weeks, socializing, eating, playing games and holding church services.
In the evenings, the central sanctuary becomes the focus and the public is welcome to join in on the activities, whether it be sermons or musical performances.
The first Carey’s Camp was held in 1888 and it is one of only a few such camps remaining in the country. For more information, and a complete schedule of events, visit www.careyscamp.org.
Ocean City Greek Festival (July 27 - 29). This is the largest Greek festival on the Delmarva Peninsula and it's scheduled for July 27-29 at the Roland E. Powell Convention Center, on Coastal Highway in Ocean City.
This is the 29th year for this popular event, which features an incredible assortment of Greek food, many unique vendors, Greek performers and dancers and much more.
Admission is free and doors open to the public each day at 12 p.m. For more information, click HERE or call 410-524-0990.
Festival proceeds benefit the community and ministry programs of St. George Greek Orthodox Church.
Ivy College Day 5K and Kiddie K (July 29). Scheduled for this Sunday at 8 a.m., participants are encouraged to wear their college colors and be eligible for special prizes.
Visit the race website for more information.
Movies on the Beach (July 30). Held every Monday night during the season, these family friendly movies are fun for everyone. Bring your family, a blanket, and some popcorn to the beach for family movie night!
Movies will start at approximately 8:30 p.m. on the beach at Dagsworthy Street in Dewey Beach and Garfield Parkway in Bethany Beach. This week's selections are"Beauty and the Beast" (Dewey Beach) and "Cars 3" (Bethany Beach).
Whatever you choose to do this weekend, we hope you have a fun and exciting few days here at the Delaware and Maryland beaches.
And be sure to check back here next week in our “Weekender Blog” for more great happenings in and near the coastal region.
