If the weather reports are to be believed, it looks like we're FINALLY going to have a nice, rain-free weekend coming up over the next few days. Mother Nature has certainly been in charge thus far this summer season, but the forecast is looking significantly nicer for the upcoming weekend.

And that's a perfect segue into an announcement that we wanted to make here today on our "Weekender Blog," if you'll bear with us for just a moment.

We love bringing you previews of upcoming events here in the coastal region, but we also know that weather plays a big part, for both residents and visitors, when deciding how you want to spend your weekends. So today, we're announcing that we'll soon be making our weekly blog even better by introducing the Oldfather Group Weather Page.

This new, interactive portion of our website will be live within the next couple of weeks and will include the latest, up-to-date information on local weather, as well as extended forecasts for the coastal region.

It's something we're very excited about, so be on the lookout for that in the very near future. And we'll also be sure to mention it once again here on the "Weekender" when it's live and ready for viewing.

Okay, on to the business at hand. We've got some great events to preview for this week, so let's get on with it.

Here's Dustin Oldfather with a quick video preview, then we'll delve right into all the information you'll need for what promises to be yet another fantastic weekend here in the coastal region.

REMINDER: be sure to check out the interactive map at the end of this blog entry to learn more about this weekend's featured events.

It's definitely going to be a great few days here at the Delaware and Maryland beaches, so let's get right to what it is you're here for.

2018 Miss Delaware Pageant (June 16). For the second straight year, the Miss Delaware pageant will be held at Cape Henlopen High School in Lewes. The 2018 event is scheduled for this Saturday, June 16, beginning at 7 p.m.

Thirteen contestants are eligible for the crown this year, with the winner going on to compete in the Miss America competition, held in Atlantic City this September.

If you want to cheer on your favorite contestant from the local region, those include Miss Southern Delaware Sophie Phillips and Miss Dewey Beach Maria Kontis.
